After the taking effective of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, Prof. Wang said, the rapid development of oceanography has brought great impacts on China while many problems are also raised, such as Diaoyu Island issue, setting boundaries with neighboring countries etc.. As a result, some research work, especially on micro-policies of marine, should be carried out to support the decision-making in China. Scientific research work should base on the interests of the whole nation and people, and provides decision makers with achievements of great consulting value.
