Besides the Xiamen ICM program, Prof.Xue also delivered a presentation on the Jiulong River management by introducing the Integrated Watershed and Coastal Sea Management (IWCM) programme set out by Fujian Province and summarizing the fundamental role Integrated Watershed and Coastal Sea Management programme will play for future management of the Jiulong River Watershed -Xiamen Bay-Coast area. Dr. Qinhua Fang , associate Professor of COMI delivered a lecture on Marine Functional Zoning in Xiamen, Dr.Fang mentioned that resolving Multiple-use conflicts through Marine Functional Zonation is one of the effective means of the Implementation of ICM, he also showed many detailed datas in emphasizing Xiamen the importance of the monitoring and reporting in MFZ implementation as well as indicating the need to strengthen the MFZ and the challenges such as mainstreaming MFZ to other sector’s planning process.
